Sewaholic Yaletown Dress | The Craft Collective

If you are a Sewaholic fan, you might have seen a sneak peek of this dress at the Sewtionary launch party. The Yaletown dress is a faux-wrap dress, with all the fun of a crossover wrap-style neckline, without any potential unwrapping embarrassment.

Drink your garden! Rhubarb simple syrup recipe and cocktail | The Craft Collective

When I moved to my new apartment, I was delighted to discover a rhubarb plant in our backyard. Rhubarb all summer long! Now, there are a million things to make with rhubarb but given that I am a lush, I made some rhubarb simple syrup to use in my cocktails.

Our Social Fabric: textile recycling in Vancouver | The Craft Collective

Vancouverites! Have you heard about Our Social Fabric yet? I got turned on to them a few years ago when I started sewing. They are a non-profit group that takes donations of excess fabric from the industry that would otherwise be trashed and sells them to local crafters and sewists at monthly (now bi-monthly!) sales. What this means, you guys, is that you can score tons of fabric for super cheap AND feel good about doing so.

DIY embroidery hoop earring organizer | The Craft Collective

Since moving to our new apartment in July, all my jewelry has been in a big box on top of my dresser. That’s not to say that it was better organized at my old place… it was just in smaller boxes then, whereas now those small boxes are inside the bigger box. Another layer to dig through to get to the goods. So I turned to the internet for help, as I always do.

Super simple overnight oats | The Craft Collective

If you’re anything like me, breakfast is difficult. I’m so lazy in the mornings, it’s all I can do to make a pot of coffee. Usually I’ll just grab a piece of toast or some homemade granola, but if I’m out of either of those then it’s off to Starbucks for some oatmeal. (That’s right, I’m too lazy to even make oatmeal in the mornings.) The solution? Overnight oats!

5 things I’ve learned from my sewing fails | The Craft Collective

While we may look brilliant here on the blog, we all have some craft fails now and again. For me, it’s my sewing fails that haunt me. I spend money on patterns and fabric and then ruin it with my own incompetence. But, even failure can be a good thing! Here’s the top five things I’ve learned from my sewing fails.
